What is a letter? - 
A letter is a message that’s written down or printed on paper and usually put in an envelope and sends to somebody.   In past, most of the people used letters to convey their message   to others. But now due to the improvement of communication technology people have easier and speedier ways of sending messages like e-mail, fax, internet &etc.
Anyhow, even today also we have to use letters in some occasions. Therefore, still its worth to learn about English letter writing. 

Part of a typical letter       
01.  The salutation (…)
The word or the group of words that’s used in letter to address the person you are writing to, is called the ‘salutation’ and is written against the left margin.
The mode of salutation is varies according to the nature of the relationship between the writer of the letter and the person to whom it’s written.
Eg; Dear Rashi, Dearest mother, Dear Sir, To whom it may concern

02.  The body of the letter (….)
This part can be divided in to three categories as introduction, main message, and conclusion.
I)                   Introduction
This refers to a previous letter that’s being replied or indicates the reason why you are writing the present letter.
Eg: I have received your letter and am very glad.
      Today I received your letter and thank you for it.
      This refers to your letter on 20th April….

II)                Main Message
This is the main part of the letter. This contains the important information that’s to be conveyed to the recipient of the letter.
III)             Conclusion
This is the ending of the body of the letter. As for personal letters, it takes the form of a wish similar to the following.
Eg: Wish you all the best
       Hoping to see you soon.
       Please give my regards to all at home.
       God bless you!

03.  The complimentary close
The type of complimentary close that should be used when writing to an intimate or close friend. This depends on your relationship with the other party.
Eg: Yours lovingly,
       Yours sincerely,
       Yours faithfully.
       Yours truly,

04.  The Signature
It’s your name that you usually write at the end of a letter. The purpose of signing a letter is to show that you have written it and you have agreed with what it says.
